Small Fry Dentistry provides specialized dental care for children, with certified and experienced dentists on staff.
We protect cracked, broken, worn, or discolored teeth with stainless steel caps. These moisture- resistant caps last longer and are sturdier than other materials. When a filling is not sufficient to repair a tooth, a cap is applied after the tooth is cleaned to prevent the spread of bacteria to other teeth.
Today's fillings are made with a nearly invisible resin that blends in with the color of your teeth. Small Fry Dentistry puts fillings in teeth with cavities to save the tooth and prevent further spread of bacteria.
Our Gallup dentists try to save your tooth whenever possible, but when a tooth is beyond saving, we provide simple and surgical extractions. An extraction may also be needed when a tooth underneath the gum is crowding other teeth. We will gently remove the tooth, applying local anesthesia to numb the area. If the tooth is a baby tooth, there is no need to place a bridge, crown, or implant in place of the extracted tooth, however, we will monitor the proper growth and eruption of the adult tooth.
Small Fry Dentistry also provides Phase I orthodontics, which involves early interceptive treatment such as an expansion, active retainer, or partial braces. This is all completed before any of the permanent teeth have erupted, usually between the ages of six and ten. The goal of this conservative and corrective treatment is to develop the child's jaws properly to make room for permanent teeth.
Habit appliances are used to correct repeated motions in the mouth that are harmful to the teeth, including pressing the tongue against the front teeth, thumb sucking, or teeth grinding. These are typically used in very young children to correct these habits before they damage the teeth, gums, and jaw and are placed on the roof of the mouth.
We offer professional cleanings, recommended for once every 6 months. This removes all plaque and tarter on your teeth. Professional brushing and fluoride treatments are also applied during the cleaning. We also examine the teeth, gums, tongue, cheeks, and jaw to check for any dental problems.
